How long does it take to train a dog for obedience?

Creating and fortifying positive behavior in your dog is important to ensure they are cheerful, social, and obedient.

How long does it take to train a dog for obedience?

Questions regarding training length are common – especially for first-time dog owners. Multiple factors come into play when our trainers work with your dog, such as the age and breed of the dog, any past training, and the nature of the behaviors that need correcting (if any).

Collectively, our team has trained thousands of dogs – you might say, “We have a lot to bark about.” Here are the average training timeframes for on and off-leash training in our facility.

  • 7-14 days of training for on-leash obedience
  • 21-30 days of training for advanced off-leash obedience

Obedient at all times, but especially when it matters most.

Dogs, like people, can be stubborn. Every dog has a different personality – some may want to exert more freedom to choose their actions than others. This can pose problems in situations where you need the dog to obey the commands you are issuing.

Two common dog training programs are on-leash training and advanced off-leash obedience training.

We make training fun for your dog, for you, and for our trainers!

What is on-leash dog training?

On-leash dog training is a type of training where the dog is kept on a leash during the training sessions. This type of training is ideal for teaching basic obedience commands such as sit, down, stay, heel, and come. On-leash training is also useful for teaching the dog to walk politely on a leash without pulling. With our on-leash training program, your dog will learn the essential skills they need to be well-behaved and obedient.

What is off-leash dog training?

Off-leash dog training is a type of training where the dog is allowed to roam free without a leash during the training sessions. This type of training is ideal for teaching advanced obedience commands and for training the dog to be well-behaved even when they are not on a leash.

Our off-leash training program is designed to give your dog the freedom they want while ensuring they are well-behaved and obedient.

This type of training is completed with and without distractions to help the dog learn to focus on the command being issued. Commands include sit, down, stay, come, heel, and place.

Can you board dogs in your facility during training?

We can! Boarding your dog during their obedience training is actually the best option.

Our facility is equipped with pet suites and with all the amenities your dog needs to feel comfortable and happy during their stay. We understand that it can be challenging to be away from your pet, but rest assured that our experienced staff will take excellent care of your furry friend.
